"Brand", "identify" and "products" の関係

この文章の中で、「えっ?」と思ったのが最初の文:

です。thatの中身だけ取り出すと、
ブランド【が】ノートブック、ダイアリー及びシティガイドからなる製品群【を】identifyする
という構造になっています。
ぼくがふつうに"identify"という単語を使った文章を考えてみると、
Moleskine【は】ノートブック、ダイアリー及びシティガイド【で】identifyされるブランドである
Moleskine is a brand that is identified by a family of […]
という構造になります。実際、日本語版でも似たような構造になっています。製品群によってブランドが"identify"される。
前述の英文では、主語が"a brand"、動詞が"identify"です。逆ですね。
英語的発想というよりも、brandの語源的発想かも。「烙印」という意味。
烙印(brand)が製品たち(products)を同定(identify)する。
これは分かりやすい。こういうことか。
